Set your app language

Your language settings live in Settings → Language, under the Personal section of the Settings sidebar. This is where you choose the language for your own Atender interface and tell Atender which languages you speak — which controls when messages are automatically translated for you.

Like the other personal settings, these choices apply only to your own account. Changing them doesn’t affect your teammates, and it doesn’t change the language your customers see.

The three settings

  • User Interface Language — the language used for menus, buttons, and system text in your Atender interface. It’s also the language Atender uses when an AI feature offers to write output “in your language”, such as the AI customer summary.
  • Primary Language — the main language you speak and prefer for communication.
  • Secondary Languages — any additional languages you can read and write fluently. You can pick as many as you like; each appears as a removable chip in the field.

Together, your primary and secondary languages tell Atender what you speak. Messages in those languages are not automatically translated — you see them as written and communicate directly with the customer in their language. Messages in languages outside your list are the ones translation applies to.

All three default to English until you change them.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Language.
  2. Click User Interface Language and pick your language. The picker is searchable — start typing to filter the list of more than 100 languages.
  3. Click Primary Language and pick the main language you communicate in.
  4. Under Secondary Languages, add any other languages you’re fluent in. Click the × on a chip to remove one.
  5. Click Save Changes. Unlike the appearance toggles in Preferences, language choices are not saved until you click the button.

Verify it worked

You should see a Personal settings saved successfully confirmation after clicking Save Changes. Reopen Settings → Language and confirm the three fields show your choices.

What this does not change

  • Your customers’ language. Customer-facing surfaces like the chat widget have their own language configuration — your personal settings only affect what you see.
  • Your teammates’ settings. Each user sets their own languages.
