Load Sample Content Into a Trial Workspace

A brand-new trial workspace has nothing in it — no conversations, no contacts, no help articles — which makes it hard to see what Atender actually looks like in use. Trial workspace owners can now fill that empty state with a realistic, one-click sample dataset: contacts, conversations, knowledge base articles, tags, and snippets, styled to look like a SaaS company, an EV charging network, or a service business. It’s meant purely for looking around — nothing in it is billed, emailed, or counted as real activity.

Where to find it

There are two doors to the same offer:

• The empty inbox. If a trial workspace has no conversations yet, a card appears below the empty-inbox message asking whether you’d like to see Atender with data in it.
• Settings → Sample content. The same choice lives here, so it’s still reachable after the inbox card has been dismissed, or once the inbox has started filling up with real conversations.

Both surfaces offer the same three business styles and load the same kind of data — the card is just a shortcut to the setting.

Choosing a business style

Pick whichever is closest to your own business:

• SaaS — Software-company style contacts and support conversations
• EV charging — Contacts and conversations styled around an EV charging network
• Service — Contacts and conversations styled around a service business

Whichever style you pick loads the full set — contacts, conversations, knowledge base articles, tags, and snippets — styled consistently for that business. There’s no way to load more than one style, or to mix styles, in the same workspace.

It’s a one-time offer per workspace

Loading sample content is available once per workspace. Once you’ve chosen a style and it’s finished loading, the offer is done:

• The card no longer appears on the empty inbox.
• The Settings entry for sample content hides once the workspace has moved past trial (for example, after converting to a paid plan) — but while still on trial, it correctly reflects that content has already been loaded rather than offering the choice again.

While a load is in progress, the card or Settings entry stays visible with a loading state until the data has finished seeding — you won’t see it disappear partway through and wonder whether it worked. If you try to trigger a second load while one is already running (for example, from two tabs), the second attempt is rejected rather than doubling up the data.

What the sample data looks like — and doesn’t do

Everything the loader creates is marked as sample data under the hood and tagged Sample wherever it shows up (conversations, contacts, and so on). That tag is how you can tell sample content apart from anything real in the workspace at a glance.

Sample content is deliberately inert:

• It’s never billed — sample conversations and contacts don’t count toward your plan’s usage.
• It’s never emailed — no real customer, or anyone else, receives anything because of sample data.
• It’s excluded from ordinary reporting and live views the same way — it exists to be looked at, not acted on as if it were a real conversation.

Because the loader writes everything inside a single pass, you won’t end up with a half-loaded workspace if something goes wrong mid-way — either the full sample set is there, or none of it is.

Dismissing the card without losing the option

The card on the empty inbox can be hidden with the X in its corner. Dismissing it only hides the card for that workspace — it doesn’t spend your one-time offer, and it doesn’t remove the option. If you change your mind later, the same choice of styles is still waiting in Settings → Sample content.

If sample content isn’t offered

The offer is scoped to trial workspaces that haven’t loaded sample content yet. If you don’t see the card or the Settings entry offers nothing to pick from, it’s because one of the following is true:

• The workspace has already loaded sample content once.
• The workspace is no longer on trial.
• The inbox isn’t actually empty — the card is only shown on an unfiltered empty inbox, not when filters happen to be hiding your real conversations.
