How to set your message style

Message style controls how the bubbles you send in conversations look — the ones on the right-hand side with your own replies. It’s a personal preference, not a workspace-wide setting, so each teammate can pick what’s easiest for them to read.

Where to find it

  1. Open Settings → Appearance.
  2. Find the Message style picker. It shows three preview cards: Ink, Light, and High visibility.
  3. Click a card to select it. A live vignette next to the pickers shows a sample conversation so you can check the result before moving on.

There’s nothing to save — selecting a card applies it right away.

The three options

Ink is the default. Your sent bubbles use a dark, ink-colored surface that follows the app theme: in light mode you get a dark bubble with light text, and in dark mode that inverts to a light bubble with dark text.

Light is the opposite treatment — a lighter bubble surface — and it also follows the app theme, just inverted relative to Ink.

High visibility is different from the other two in an important way: it’s a fixed, theme-independent readability mode, not a color choice. Turning it on gives you:

  • Black text on a soft yellow background for your own (agent) bubbles, and black text on white for the other party’s bubbles
  • Thicker, high-contrast 2px borders around bubbles
  • Slightly larger, heavier message text for easier reading
  • Darkened timestamp/meta text
  • Underlined links, so they don’t rely on color alone to stand out

Because High visibility is fixed, it looks the same whether your system or workspace is in light or dark theme — it’s designed for low-vision readability first, and doesn’t try to match your theme.

What it affects

Message style only changes the appearance of sent-message bubbles in the conversation view — colors, borders, text weight, and link styling. It doesn’t change:

  • What the other party sees. Message style is personal to your account; it doesn’t change how your messages look to customers or to other agents viewing the same conversation.
  • Anything about Look & Feel’s workspace logo or brand colors — those are separate, tenant-wide settings.
  • Any other part of the UI, such as the navigation sidebar (which has its own, separately configured style).

It’s personal, and it’s instant

Message style is saved to your user account, not the tenant. Switching it:

  • Takes effect immediately in every open and future conversation — no reload needed.
  • Doesn’t affect any other teammate’s view. If you switch to High visibility, your colleagues’ screens are unchanged.
  • Persists across sessions and devices, since it’s tied to your account rather than your browser.

Choosing High visibility

If you or a teammate has low vision or finds standard bubble contrast hard to read, High visibility is the option to reach for — it’s purpose-built for readability rather than aesthetics, and it stays consistent regardless of whether the app is set to light or dark theme. If you just prefer a lighter or darker look but don’t need the extra contrast and text treatment, Ink or Light will follow your theme automatically instead.
