Bulk-edit articles
When you’re cleaning up a Knowledge Base or migrating a chunk of content from one category to another, going article-by-article gets old fast. Bulk actions let you change status, move articles between categories, or archive a batch in one go.
What you can do in bulk
The bulk actions bar supports three operations:
- Change status — Move every selected article to
draft, published, orneeds-review. - Move to category — Reassign every selected article to a different category.
- Archive — Mark every selected article as archived. They disappear from the public site but aren’t deleted.
Bulk role tagging and bulk tag assignment aren’t supported yet — for those, edit articles individually.
Select articles
- Open the Knowledge Base.
- Pick the category whose articles you want to edit. The article list is in the middle pane.
- Click the checkbox at the left of each article you want to include. The bulk actions bar appears at the top of the list.
- To select everything in the current category, click the checkbox in the column header.
Change status
In the bulk actions bar, open the Status dropdown and pick the new status.
A safety prompt appears if you’re moving published articles back to draft — that takes them off the public site, so it warns you to confirm.
Move to a different category
Open the Move to dropdown and pick the destination category. The selected articles get reassigned immediately.
If the destination has subcategories, the moved articles land in the parent category with no subcategory assigned. Edit them individually if you need them in a specific subcategory.
Archive
Click Archive. A confirmation dialog appears — archiving takes articles off the public site and unbinds them from search. They aren’t deleted, so you can restore them later by changing status back to draft or published from the article view.
What bulk-edit doesn’t do
- It doesn’t bulk-delete. Atender doesn’t support hard deletion through the UI — archiving is the closest thing. If you genuinely need to purge articles, contact support.
- It doesn’t bulk-tag. Tags need to be added or removed per-article.
- It doesn’t bulk-assign roles. Same as tags — per-article only.
- It doesn’t bulk-translate. Translation jobs are per-article, queued automatically when an article is published in your default language.
Common workflows
- Spring cleaning: filter the article list by
publishedand the views column to spot articles with zero traffic in 90 days. Select them and bulk-archive. - Restructure: create a new category, then bulk-move articles from the old one. Rename or archive the old category once it’s empty.
- Pre-launch sweep: before you launch the public site, filter for
draft, review them one by one, and bulk-publish the ones that are ready.
